The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
