19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a tight third set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
