A person who laced candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two children both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant played a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said items including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The prosecutor said the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
